African Basket Weaving

Something that always surprises me is how prints and patterns can be found in so many unconventional mediums. You can find them in the sky, in nature, on buildings, on the footpath and the list could go on. So while researching for another project this week I was pleasantly surprised to discover some beautiful patterns in African basket weaving. Often made from materials like grass, vines, raffia and leaves these baskets have a history of being practical items used for carrying harvested crops, storage and transporting food from markets and now they are now finding their way into homes as a decorative item. .....I have chosen just a few to share on the blog today.
